Sightly off topic but amusing to me is the fact that CB radio manufacturers have been petitioning the FCC for a rule change since 2017. The rule permits the 11 meter crowd to operate on FM.
Imagine the confusion as truckers and others who have older AM and SSB CB’s begin hearing undetectable sounds coming from their radios. Why didn’t Cobra and President also petition for a new group of FM frequencies?
Since no new frequencies were requested, it appears that FM on 11 meters is nothing more than a marketing ploy by Cobra and President to bolster sagging CB radio sales!
Since you mentioned FCC, my educated guess is you’re referring to the USA. Here in the EU, cb fm has been working for decades. Yet in the last years CB is “the sound of silence” here. It seems abandoned; my scanners rarely pick up signals in the 11 meters. Still in use in the USA?
